Missions
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to reproduce ourselves in the image of Christ by providing for the social and spiritual needs of our campuses, city, and global community as well as being a church planting movement. We do all this to influence others to become followers of Christ and to shape our world into the image of Christ.
Mission's Ministry Plan:
The missions committee will spend this year promoting missions in the church. Solid groundwork needs to be laid in order to build a missions-minded church. We intend to do this by raising awareness of missions in our city and around the world to our church body. This year will be spent building relationships with missionaries overseas, and also focusing on the many needs in the city of Edmonton. Now that we are truly a "City-Centred" church, we have many opportunities to tap into the great missions that already exist in our city's core. We will bring awareness to these opportunities and encourage the church to take advantage of them.
Along with our objectives, we will continue to support the following ministries:
International Missions:
We will continue to support Next Life International as per our previous commitment to them, which includes sending a short-term mission's team to Slovakia on a regular basis and continue to support Al Downey.
We hope to add one more missionary to our portfolio and build a relationship with them that can be shared with the church.
Local Missions:
We don't want to create our own downtown mission, but invest in the missions that already exist. This year, we want to encourage the church to support the Mustard Seed and the Dream Centre. We will arrange practical ways to do so, such as providing meals, filling back packs with needed supplies or implementing work bees.
We would also like to increase our support to the University Food Bank, through Kool Aid. We will continue to remind people of this important need within our city.
